Thomas Strain, MD
Dr. Thomas Strain joins the Trinity Community Health Center of Louisiana. He is a graduate of New York Medical College and did his Family Practice Residency at JFK Medical Center in Edison , New Jersey. After his Board Certification in Family Medicine he served as an officer in the Commission Core. Than went on to practice for a few yrs in South Carolina before moving to New Mexico where he has resided for the past 31 yrs. In New Mexico he was a practitioner for a few organization. His main object in his practice was to help to provide QUALITY CARE to those in under served areas. This lead him to take on the task of being Medical Director during these 31 yrs in a HMO, NM State correction system, Hospice, and a FQHC.
Jennifer Levinson Garrett, PNP-P
Jennifer Levinson Garrett, APRN, CPNP was born in Shreveport, La and has devoted her adult life to caring for pediatric patients in Northeast Louisiana. Jennifer started her nursing career in 1998 when she graduated Summa Cum Laude from nursing school and began working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Francis Medical Center. While at St. Francis Medical Center Jennifer initiated a Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team, was certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), became a PALS instructor and was certified in the Neonatal Resuscitative Program (NRP). Jennifer continued in this capacity until 2005 when she moved back to Shreveport, La and took a position at Schumpert Medical Center in the PICU and NICU while attending Graduate School. While attending Graduate School Jennifer was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society of Nursing. Jennifer was one of only 5 students to graduate Summa Cum Laude, with the highest honor, from Northwestern State University in May of 2007 and thus began her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner career.
Throughout her career, Jennifer has had the great pleasure of working side-by-side with some of the best Pediatric Subspecialist in Northeast Louisiana and continues to this day to have a great working and referral relationship with them. Jennifer has worked in both primary care and in the hospital setting as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Jennifer is certified in Pediatric Primary Care and specializes in the care of newborns, children with ADHD/ADD/ODD and common childhood illnesses and disease processes.
Jennifer has a true passion and caring heart for her pediatric patients and their families. Jennifer believes that one of the greatest gifts that anyone can receive is to be entrusted by a family to care for their children. It is Jennifer’s philosophy that no child should receive anything less than the absolute best care possible throughout their lifespan.
Patricia McGovern, FNP-C
Patricia obtained a BSN from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1982. As an RN she worked in critical care, emergency room, oncology and hospice. During her 25 years of nursing she became certified in in Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Nursing Care, and Oncology. She worked as a staff nurse and in administrative positions. She served in various positions at the local and state levels for The American Heart Association and The American Cancer Society. She established a cancer support group as well as a grief support group. She co-founded Camp Bon Couer, a camp for children with cardiac defects which is in its 32nd year and is now an international camp.
Patricia returned to school in 2004 and earned a Masters of Nursing from McNeese State University.She graduated at the top of her class and was awarded The Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners Edna Truenting Award of Excellence for the State of Louisiana in 2006. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She was awarded Who's Who of MSU, Who's Who of Executive Women in Healthcare and North Louisiana AHEC Mentor Award. She has obtained post graduate training in oncology at John Hopkins Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She has presented lectures at medical and nursing conferences nationally and internationally. She has worked in urgent care, mobile medical and family practice. She has served as a preceptor for many nurse practitioner students.
